Corona Spurs Arab Kids to Improve Their Hebrew Skills!

Etihad Airways - perhaps best known in the West as the sponsor of the UK's Manchester City Football Club - has now made Middle Eastern history by flying the first known direct commercial flight between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Israel. The flight to Ben Gurion Airport yesterday (Tuesday 19 May) brought medical supplies to Palestinian Authority citizens affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. There were no passengers on board.

This remarkable story along with the one I repost  below unedited from the Magen David Adom emergency service endorse earlier reports that the pandemic has strengthened Arab-Israeli relations:

"Magen David Adom is at سخنين:  -  Sakhnin  (an Arab town in the Galilee that neighbours Karmiel).

Against the backdrop of continuing MDA teams at the forefront of the fight against the Coronavirus, dozens of MDA youth volunteers in Sakhnin underwent lessons to improve Hebrew in order to bridge the language gaps in teamwork and medical care.

The venture has recruited two MDA volunteers from Julis, who speak Hebrew and Arabic as their mother tongue, and will communicate to volunteers from Sakhnin the online lessons.

"This is a very special and exciting project for me as a citizen of the State of Israel and as a volunteer at Magen David Adom," said one of the instructors in the project to Mar Abu Najam (16).

"I think every boy and girl in the State of Israel, should communicate in the Hebrew language. Therefore, I am very happy and proud to be part of this project, and to help dozens of youth from the Arab society who are volunteers in MDA strengthen their Hebrew".

It has been claimed that the United States has been the source of 70% of all Israeli Coronavirus infections. Dr Adi Stern of Tel Aviv University, who led the relevant study, noted that it also revealed the existence of “super spreaders,” which, along with “super-spreading events,” were responsible for around 80% of all Israeli contagion.
